BIO—A Chronological Narrative
The career of Dennis Girard is defined by two distinct chapters: a foundational period in the Canadian rock scene of the late 70's and 80s and a second, ongoing chapter as a director and recording artist dedicated to global spiritual initiatives.
1977–1985: The Canadian Rock Era
The first phase of Girard’s career was rooted in the high-energy hard rock scene of Ontario and Quebec.
-
Galleon (1977–1984): As a founding member of the Ottawa-based band Galleon, Girard helped establish one of the region's most successful touring acts. Known for complex, progressive-influenced arrangements and a rigorous schedule of over 200 shows annually, the band became a staple of the 80s rock circuit.
-
Bombay (1984–1985): Following his departure from Galleon, Girard joined the band Bombay with noted musicians, including Peter Fredette (Kim Mitchell, Tom Cochrane), Steve Hollingsworth (Five-Man Electrical Band, Pat Travers, Cooper Brothers), and Derek O'Neill (Pat Travers, FURY with Nico McBrain from Iron Maiden).
1994–Present: Spiritual Awakening and Ministry
In 1994, Girard experienced a personal and professional transition that shifted his focus toward Christian ministry and devotional music.
-
Musical Transition: He began re-recording and adapting his songwriting catalog, moving away from secular rock toward worship and liturgical music. This era saw the release of several projects, including the Divine Mercy Chaplet in Song.
-
Leadership Roles: Girard, alongside his wife Angelina, founded and became the directors of the Marian Devotional Movement in 2017. In this capacity, he took on the leadership of significant initiatives, including PAC27 (Pan American Confraternity Forum) and the Jubilee33 Journey. In recent years, they have collaborated closely with the Dominican Order, the historic custodians of the Archconfraternity of the Most Holy Rosary, to support the renewal and re‑establishment of the Rosary Confraternity at Marian shrines. This work — formally encouraged by the Promoter General of the Rosary — helped shape a contemporary model for shrine‑based renewal.
-
The 2026 Collections: Utilizing modern production technology, Girard has recently undertaken a comprehensive effort to produce his catalog at a world-class level. In April 2026, he released the "In His Presence Collection", the first in a series of themed releases including Pop Rock, Country Rock, Celtic, and Instrumental collections.
Present and Future: Integrating Art and Mission
Today, Girard’s background in "arena-style" production serves as the backbone for his work as an organizational director.
-
Event Management: His experience with a touring band in the 80s has been instrumental in managing the logistics for the upcoming TD Place stadium event in Ottawa, scheduled for September 2027.
-
Legacy Stewardship: Through his current multi-genre releases, Girard continues to bridge the gap between his heritage as a songwriter and his mission to provide impactful, high-fidelity devotional tools for a global audience.

FOR THOSE WHO ARE INTERESTED IN THE SONGWRITING—PRODUCTION PROCESS, a few words from Dennis.
Modern technology has become an incredible gift for songwriter/artists. It allows me to collaborate with world‑class producers, musicians, and vocal stylists in ways that used to be completely out of reach unless you had a full studio team and a major budget. But even with all of that available, the creative process still starts in the same place it always has: the song.
For each track, I’m the one shaping the direction — choosing the genre, the instrumentation, the arrangement, and the vocal style. The tools help bring those decisions to life, but they don’t make the decisions for me. Whether a song needs a more acoustic feel, a pop‑leaning production, a Celtic texture, or something cinematic, those choices are intentional and rooted in what the song is trying to communicate.
In that sense, the technology doesn’t replace musicians — it expands the palette. It lets me co‑produce with top‑tier talent and access sounds and performances that match the emotional world of the song. But the heart of the work is still songwriting: crafting the melody, the lyrics, the structure, and then deciding how best to present it.
So while the tools are modern, the approach is very traditional. Start with a strong song, then build the right musical world around it.
