ST. MICHAEL SWORD PILGRIMAGE EXPERIENCE
CANADA'S "EL CAMINO" - drive it, bus it, pray it.
"Pilgrimage is the icon of human life." A phrase coined by Archbishop Rino Fisichella, President of the Pontifical Council for promoting the New Evangelization, in a recent conversation about the "Sword" pilgrimage with Dennis & Angelina Girard, directors of the Marian Devotional Movement and developers of the St. Michael Sword Pilgrimage Experience. (Pontifical Council - Archbishop Fischella is the first person to the left of the Holy Father. He was especially joyful to hear that London, Ontario, was on the pilgrimage route given he preached there prior to meeting St. John Paul II at the 2002 World Youth Day in Toronto)
EACH CITY HAS A DESIGNATED ST. MICHAEL SWORD PILGRIMAGE EXPERIENCE LOCATION
Cities also feature a limited number of "City Sword Sites" whereby pilgrims scan a QR Code on a posted St. Michael Sword Map to register their successful completion of another leg of their pilgrimage.
For a "City Sword Site" application, please email info@theMDM.org
"City Sword Sites" include all locations that would be of interest to pilgrims including restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, gift shops, etc.
Below are Canada's 2011 pilgrimage statistics compiled by ARC - Alliance of Religions and Conservation
2 million pilgrims at Saint Joseph's Oratory in Montreal
1 million pilgrims at St Anne de Beaupre
350,000 pilgrims at the Basilica of Notre-Dame-du-Cap in Trois-Rivières
