CAPE PILGRIMAGE & STATUE TOURS

Marian Devotional Movement (MDM) statement regarding the closing of REGINAS at Canada’s National Marian Shrine.

September 15th, 2024 - Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows

The MDM is grateful for the ongoing endorsement of the local ordinary of Trois-Rivières, Bishop Martin Laliberté. His support was instrumental in facilitating the MDM’s presence at Canada’s National Marian Shrine in 2022 at the conclusion of the Papal Visit Procession. (read support letter HERE) The opening of REGINAS corresponded with the first worldwide broadcast of the Bridge of Roses docudrama on EWTN. Bishop Laliberté participated in this global event and offered his episcopal blessing on REGINAS.

In July 2024, the MDM, with the support of Bishop Laliberté, (read support letter HERE) conducted a National Pilgrim Statue procession to the Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, USA where 50,000 Catholics gathered. Upon the return from this event and procession, the MDM was informed verbally by the Director to vacate REGINAS as per a Board of Directors resolution dated July 18th, 2024.

As we close this chapter of our mission in Trois-Rivières, we thank Bishop Laliberté for his total support including the many times he hosted and welcomed us at his residence. We pray for the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, the Board of Directors in charge of Canada’s National Marian Shrine with the firm hope that the domain of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, Queen of Canada, may always be a place of grace and blessings for all its pilgrims.
