The Chaplet of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

12 days separate the Memorial of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal celebrated on November 27th and the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th.

Both point to the Blessed Virgin's possession of sanctifying grace at the moment of her conception. The first, Our Lady's apparition to St. Catherine Labouré in 1830 requesting a medal be struck with the inscription, O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us you have recourse to thee. The second, the glorious day Pope Pius IX officially proclaimed the dogma of the Immaculate Conception.

Our Lady of the Cape, Queen of the Holy Rosary, Queen of Intercessors, among her many titles, was first donated to the parish at Cap-de-la-Madeleine in 1854 and was fashioned after Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal; first known as Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. The Chaplet of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as will be experienced through it's recitation, is a most fitting way to acknowledge the Holy Trinity's choice of Mary in salvation history and to honor her as Queen of the Universe.

"A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon was under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars." Revelation 12:1

It is in this spirit that the Marian Devotional Movement will inaugurate in 2022 the annual recitation of the Chaplet of Twelve Stars between November 27th and December 8th. The twelve stars signify Mary's Motherhood and Queenship over the 12 tribes and 12 apostles.

Each group begins with an Our Father, and ends with a Glory Be. The entire Crown, then, is the praying of the following arrangement of prayers three times:

1 Our Father 4 Hail Marys 1 Glory Be

Chaplet of the Twelve Stars of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Prior to the recitation of the chaplet, recite the following prayer to Our Lady of the Cape, Queen of Intercessors.

Our Lady of the Cape, Queen of Intercessors, daughter of the Father, Mother of the Son, and spouse of the Holy Spirit, envelop our hearts with your Immaculate Heart; that your joys and sorrows be our joys and sorrows; that your prayers and supplications be our prayers and supplications. With trust and confidence do we unite our intercessions with yours seeking only the Divine Will of the Father. O Mary, Queen of Intercessors, our Mother in faith, intercede on our behalf for ... mention your intention ... pray for us that in all circumstances we would abandon ourselves to Divine Providence for the greater glory of God.
